Our friends at the neighbouring hyperlocal site Tongwynlais.com are celebrating their 12th anniversary.
Here, the site's founder Jack Davies looks back at the past 12 years:
"I started Tongwynlais.com shortly after moving to the village with the simple aim of promoting the local area and sharing photos.
"After deciding to add some local news, things quickly escalated. I got involved in the growing "hyperlocal news" scene through Cardiff University. I completed a community journalism course and met up with editors from around the UK.
"In the first few years of running the site, I attended conferences, spoke on panels, interviewed politicians, helped set up a community survey and visited Downing Street.
"Getting involved in community projects was a fantastic way to meet people when I was new to the area. I love talking to residents about their memories of Tongwynlais. People have been so generous sharing their photos and stories.
"After seven years of covering news and community issues, I decided to change direction and focus on topics that I'm really passionate about. The site now covers art, local history, photography and adventures around Tongwynlais.
"I started a new project in lockdown dedicated to Castell Coch. The website also covers art, photography and the history of this Cardiff landmark.
"Both sites have become an outlet for my interests and creativity. I love photography, digital illustration and watercolour painting.
"I'm an avid collector of postcards, art and memorabilia. Over the past twelve years, I've uncovered some fascinating stories and unique images. And there are some gems in my collection waiting to be shared with my readers.
"I never imagined 12 years ago that starting a simple website would give me the opportunity to have done so much. I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, doing things outside my comfort zone and learning about where I live."
