Michael Maloney will star as Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, in Lucy Bailey’s new production of Murder on the Orient Express, which visits Cardiff's New Theatre next March.
Stage and screen star, Michael said: “I am very excited and honoured to be joining a long line of extraordinary actors who have taken on the role of Hercule Poirot and hope I can be so, too."
It's winter 1934 and an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Trapped in the snow with a killer still on board, can Poirot crack the case before the train reaches its final destination?
Murder on The Orient Express plays at the New Theatre from 4 to 8 March 2025.
🎭 In other casting news, Melissa Jacques has been announced in the role of April in NOW That's What I Call a Musical, which plays at the New Theatre from 29 October to 2 November this year.
This new British musical written by award-winning comedian Pippa Evans is directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood.
Featuring a string of memorable pop hits. the show also stars Nina Wadia as Gemma and Sonia as herself, performing the songs that made her a NOW favourite.
🎭 The Award-winning Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical, featuring Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s greatest hits, is returning to the New Theatre from 3-8 February.
The cast includes Glenn Adamson, Katie Tonkinson, Rob Fowler, and Sharon Sexton.
🎭 A new tour of the thriller The Girl on the Train, based on the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins opens at the New Theatre on 27 – 31 May 2025.
