Rhiwbina and other parts of North Cardiff will host tree-planting events in the coming weeks and months as part of Cardiff Council's Coed Caerdydd (Cardiff Forest) project, which has now seen 100,000 trees planted in four years.
Local tree-planting events include:
March 12, 12.30pm - Heol y Coed, Rhiwbina
March 17, 10am - Whitchurch Golf Club, Rhiwbina
March 21, 10am - Wenallt Road, Rhiwbina
There are also tree-planting events scheduled in Llanishen, Whitchurch, Gabalfa, Radyr, Forest Farm, Llandaff.

The council set up the project in 2021 as part of its One Planet Cardiff response to the climate emergency with the aim of increasing tree canopy coverage in the city from a starting point of 18.9% to 25%.
Now into its fourth planting season, the project has seen council staff working alongside volunteers to plant an area the size of more than 25 Principality Stadium pitches with native trees including alder, rowan, oak, and hawthorn alongside the creation of new orchards and hedgerows.
Council cabinet member Jennifer Burke, said: "A huge thank you has to go to all the volunteers who have helped us achieve so much in such a short period of time, whether that's by getting their hands dirty with planting or helping us care for the trees - it simply wouldn't have been possible without their work."
New trees have been planted in parks and green spaces, streets and school grounds, as well as on land owned by other public sector organisations and private landowners. Trees are specially selected to suit each individual site and range in size from small saplings to larger trees.
Once planted the Coed Caerdydd team aims to check on all trees several times in their first few years, and volunteer ‘tree guardians' help water and care for the trees. In the longer-term all trees will be maintained by the council.
Details of local tree-planting events are in our events calendar and all Coed Caerdydd activity is listed here.
