The Rhiwbina short film Annalium 8: Sssss will be screened as part of the official selection at Wild Indie Scifi & Fantasy Film Festival in London.
The festival, which annually attracts around 400 entries from around the world, takes place at Genesis Cinema, Bethnal Green, on 18 May.
Being part of the official selection – repesenting about 15-20% of the entry – means it is also competing for an award.
The news follows a string of previous achievements, which we reported earlier in the year.
Filmed locally, Annalium 8: Sssss was written and co-produced by Rhiwbina-born-and-raised Rob Lancey, and also produced by our own Andy Weltch of Weltch Media.
"This is very exciting news," said Andy. "It's a huge achievement, and all credit to the amazing team who created the film."
Directed by Andrew ‘Griff’ Griffin, the film stars Francesca Louise White and Minaii Baelfire. Francesca is an award-winning actress, most recently seen in the feature Ship of the Damned, now available on Sky Store, and Minaii holds the distinction of being the world’s first Black Young Elsa in a stage production of Frozen.
Annalium 8: Sssss is set in a world where all animal life has seemingly been killed, until a lone scientist in hazmat gear finds a young girl, apparently unaffected and living in a forest.
You may have seen the film at Monico Movies last October or at another local screeening, but if you missed it, you can now watch it online here.
