Principality announces £300k to help young people

A fund providing cash to community groups and social projects across Wales is now open for applications.

In partnership with Community Foundation Wales, Principlaity Building Society has announced a £300,000 fund, offering grants of up to £25,000.

The fund will support young people preparing for the world of work, financial education, mental health support and skills for sustainable living. There will also be a focus on ensuring young people have access to healthy food and other essential items including clothes, stationery and technology.

The fund opened last week and will close on 2 November.

It takes the total of donations made by Principality past £1 million, since the Future Generations Fund was launched last year.

Tony Smith, chief governance officer at Principality Building Society, said: “We’re really proud of the number of people we’ve been able to help since the Future Generations Fund was launched. The stories and projects are inspiring, as are the people who work hard in their communities to support these much needed initiatives.

“We recognise the pressures facing so many community groups given the ongoing cost of living crisis, and that is why we’ve made the decision to make grants available of up to £25,000 in this latest round of funding.”
