More areas of North Cardiff are set to join the new 'sack sort' recycling system.
If you live in Whitchurch, Heath East, Llandaff North, Lisvane, Tongwynlais, Pontprennau or Adamsdown, Rumney, Penylan, Caerau, or St Fagans, you will be moving onto the new scheme in July.
If you're one of those in Rhiwbina, Pentyrch, Heath West, Radyr, Ely, Llandaff, Trowbridge, or Gabalfa who are still using green recycling bags, from 16 July you will join the new scheme too.
Most people in Rhiwbina and some neighbouring areas switched to the new method in February,
It has reportedly led to a 'significant improvement' in the quality of recycling.
For those joining the scheme, new containers will be delivered between 10 June and 12 July with a letter and leaflet posted through your letterbox, explaining how to use the scheme.
You will be given:
• a new blue caddy for your glass bottles & jars,
• a new reusable red sack for your metal cans, tins, aerosols & foil, plastic bottles, pots, tubs & trays, and food & drink cartons, such as Tetra Pak
• a new reusable blue sack for your cardboard and paper.
You can find out more here.
If you live in an apartment or flat with communal recycling and non-recyclable waste bins, these changes don’t currently affect you. Separate trials will take place to develop a recycling system for flats and apartments and further information will follow for residents living in these homes.
The new recycling collections fr those affected will start from 16 July.
