A local curry house has been named one of the restaurants of the year in the annual Curry Life Awards.
Celebrities Indian Restaurant in Birchgrove was the only winner from Wales in the recent 2024 awards, presented at a prestigious ceremony in the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square.
The ceremony was hosted by GB News presenter and Telegraph associate editor Camilla Tominey, with guests including Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP.
The audience was told: "Athoul Chowdhury has been running Cardiff's Celebrities Indian Restaurant with his son for the last five years.
"The rather unique name for his curry house was inspired by a survey Athoul did among customers when he worked as a taxi driver.
"The decor within the 50-seat restaurant is also important for attracting customers."
On Instagram, the restaurant's account posted: "For our family restaurant in Birchgrove, Cardiff to win this award means the world to us. We attended a prestigious ceremony in London and were delighted to be announced the winners.
"Thanks to all our hard working staff for making this possible. And thank you also to our wonderful customers for contributing to the win by voting for us - this makes the award all the more special!"
As well as awards for restaurants of the year, there were awards for chefs of the year, takeaways of the year, and editors' choice. You can see a full list of winners here. Celebrities Indian Restaurant was the only winner from Wales in any of the categories.
Celebrities Indian Restaurant is in Caerphilly Road, CF14 4QA, where its neighbours include another award-winning food outlet, Golden BBQ.
