A fun-filled, action-packed day of free play activities for families will take place in North Cardiff next week (Wednesday 7 August) with the annual Playday at Heath Park.
The National Day of Play is celebrated across the UK every August, highlighting children's right to play and the importance of play in children's lives. The theme of this year's day is the culture of childhood - supporting play, fun and friendships.
Organised by Cardiff Council's Children's Play Services, stacks of outdoor fun is on the cards for children and families at Heath Park on Wednesday 7 August, 1 - 4pm, when a range of council services and partners will be delivering games, storytelling, sports, arts and crafts and more, all at no cost to families.
Families are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather - rain or shine, and to join in the fun at the field near the mini railway at the park.
The council's cabinet member for children's services Peter Bradbury, said: "Playing is vital for children's health, happiness, and creativity, and we've put together a fantastic day of free fun for children and families at Heath Park next week to make sure this year's Playday is one to remember.
"There's going to be something for everyone - from the youngest members of families to the ‘big kids' - mums, dads, grandparents - everyone is welcome and will enjoy!
"We can't guarantee the weather - please come prepared, but we can be confident that everyone who comes along will find a wide range of entertaining play activities to take part in."
